Japan stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Paper & Pulp, Transport and Communication sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 declined 0.98%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Renesas Electronics Corp (TYO:6723), which rose 10.26% or 299.00 points to trade at 3,212.00 at the close. Meanwhile, NTN Corp. (TYO:6472) added 8.76% or 30.80 points to end at 382.20 and TDK Corp (TYO:6762) was up 7.98% or 213.50 points to 2,890.50 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Fujitsu Ltd. (TYO:6702), which fell 13.89% or 513.00 points to trade at 3,180.00 at the close. Oriental Land Co Ltd (TYO:4661) declined 10.10% or 246.00 points to end at 2,188.50 and Central Japan Railway Co. (TYO:9022) was down 7.99% or 325.00 points to 3,744.00.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 2649 to 947 and 193 ended unchanged.
Shares in Oriental Land Co Ltd (TYO:4661) fell to 5-year lows; down 10.10% or 246.00 to 2,188.50. Shares in TDK Corp (TYO:6762) rose to 3-years highs; gaining 7.98% or 213.50 to 2,890.50.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was up 7.31% to 31.71.
Crude oil for June delivery was up 1.30% or 1.39 to $108.27 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in July rose 1.72% or 1.90 to hit $112.34 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract rose 0.89% or 40.55 to trade at $4,602.05 a troy ounce.
